Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies OUT of Oscar race as Academy announces shortlist for Best International Film

Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, was India's official entry to Oscars 2025 in the Best Foreign Language Film category but failed to make it into the top 10. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the shortlists in 15 categories for the upcoming 97th Oscars ceremony on Tuesday. However, this list didn't have the name of Kiran Rao's latest directorial. Produced under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions, Kindling Pictures, and Jio Studios, Laapataa Ladies was released in theatres on March 1 this year.

Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 records lowest numbers since release, check its latest box office figures

Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun in the titular role, remains unstoppable even after 12 days of its theatrical release. However, the film recorded its lowest box office numbers of its second Monday but these figures can still beat any other movie's collections any day. As per Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 minted Rs 27.75 crore, taking its total nett collections to Rs 929.85 after Day 12. Despite Pushpa 2 originally being a Telugu film, it has made more money from its dubbed Hindi version.

Allu Arjun released from jail after night of protests by fans in Hyderabad

Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was released from Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad on Saturday morning, following a night of protests by hundreds of fans outside the prison. Actor Allu Arjun's lawyer Ashok Reddy said, " They received an order copy from High Court but despite that, they didn't release the accused (Allu Arjun)...they will have to answer...this is illegal detention, we will take legal action...as of now he has been released..."
